Alberta Dance Theatre for Young People presents
The Jungle Book
December 4, 5 & 6, 2009
University Theatre, U of C Campus, Calgary, AB
Alberta Dance Theatre for Young People celebrates our 29th season with an interpretation of Rudyard Kipling's classic work, The Jungle Book. Join us as we journey to India to follow Mowgli's life in the jungle with characters such as Akela the pack leader, Baloo the bear, and Shere Khan the fearsome tiger. Mowgli's experiences poignantly illuminate themes of love, learning, loyalty, acceptance and belonging that are fundamental elements in the jungles of all our daily lives.
The colours, sights and sounds of the Indian jungle are brought to life as Mowgli the man-cub flies through the treetops with monkeys, encounters the power of the "red flower" of fire, and learns the law of the jungle with the help of his friends.
Our creative team, inspired by the rhythms of the subcontinent and the spirit of Bollywood spectacle, has created a show that is sure to delight audiences of all ages. This team is composed of some of Calgary's finest dance-artists working co-operatively with 50 young dancers, aged 7-17, to produce creatively-charged choreography set to an original musical score.
Join the pack for a thrilling theatre experience!
